What gear do we use while traveling?

We have collected gear in the last few years to perfectly capture our adventures. We would like to show you our collection and tell you why this gear is easy for traveling.

Canon EOS RP

The Canon EOS RP is a light compact system camera that doesn’t take much space so we can easily take this camera with us everywhere. Ideal for traveling! The camera has a full-frame sensor, which ensures nicer bokeh effects due to the smaller depth of field and there will be less noise at a higher ISO, so shooting in dark conditions is also possible. Many moments happen when traveling, spontaneously and unexpectedly. Still, you want to capture these moments. That is why it is very nice that this camera has many focus points. This way you can quickly indicate exactly what you want in focus, and you won’t miss a moment! Another plus is the tilting screen. When traveling, we take photos from all perspectives. Such a tilting screen really works perfectly to be able to work easily if you want to photograph something from a low point. And from now on we can print our travel photos enlarged and give them a nice place on our walls. With the 26,2 megapixels, photos can be printed large without loss of quality. GOALS.

Canon RF 24-105mm F/4L IS USM

In combination with the EOS RP we use the RF 24-105mm F/4L IS USM. This is a versatile zoom lens that makes it possible to photograph very diversely. With the wide angle you can shoot cities or capture entire landscapes, while you can photograph details and portraits zoomed in. All-round and therefore suitable for travel! With an aperture of f/4 across the entire range, you maintain a beautiful depth of field throughout the whole range and you can keep taking bright photos with the low aperture.

Sony A6400

This 24.2 megapixel EISA award-winning mirrorless camera takes beautiful, high-quality photos. Because it is a mirrorless camera, it is lighter and you do not have to be afraid of injured neck and back muscles if you take it with you for a day. We also chose this camera because it is perfect for making videos. For example, you can film in 4K 24fps and because we are slow-motion addicts, you can also film running water, animals and yourself in 120fps Full HD. Another advantage is that this camera only allows some noise at a very high ISO. This way you can take sharp shots at ISO 6400. This is ideal when shooting in low-light situations such as a forest, or when you want to capture the beautiful starry sky or northern lights. The easiest function on the camera is the WIFI function. You can quickly send the content to your phone, so you have your photos right away anywhere in the world and can edit & share them immediately.

Sony All-in-One lens

For the Sony A6400, we chose the all-in-one 18-105 mm F/4.0 zoom lens. You can shoot with wide-angle landscapes, but you can also zoom in to bring subjects closer to create unique perspectives. That way you don’t have to change lenses every time and also save space in your suitcase! The ideal thing about this lens is that it has a built-in zoom system, so you don’t have to twist the lens. Together with the built-in stabilization, this ensures super stable shots, so you get less blurry parts in your photo’s.

Canon 1300D

This is our first professional DSLR camera. We have enjoyed this for years and it is a very nice camera if you want to learn how to photograph manually. The camera is easy to use and has a clear menu. Both crop and full-frame lenses fit on the camera. This camera also has a WIFI function, which allows you to view, edit and post your content at lightning speed. Ideal for when you come across a nice place that you really can’t wait to share with everyone. It is no longer new for sale, but you can probably buy a second-hand for a cheap price.

Canon portrait lens

The Canon 50mm F/1.8 prime lens is a must have for every photographer. It is super compact and weighs nothing. As a result, it hardly takes up any space and is therefore perfect to take with you on the road. Due to the possibility to photograph with a fast aperture, you can also take very nice detail shots, for example during city trips or in nature. The advantage is that this is a cheap lens and also delivers super quality. This lens is also great for portrait photography. We want to get more out of our comfort zone on our next trips and also photograph the people and their culture. Really an all-round lens, right?

Tamron zoom lens

The Tamron 18-200 mm F3.5-5.6 zoom lens is a lens with a wide range. You can use it for different types of photography. Think of landscape, portrait and wildlife photography. All content we make of animals is made with this lens. You can make a nice close-up from afar, without scaring off animals. We think it really is perfect for taking spontaneous photos. Because you can capture the moment as it actually happens; pure and unaffected, without changing lenses.

DJI Mavic Mini

A drone is a very nice addition for creating content. You see views and objects from completely different perspectives. With a drone you can take impressive and unique photos and videos that you certainly can not take with normal cameras (unless you own a helicopter ;-)). We have chosen the entry-level model from DJI, so that we can practice flying. You can make sharp videos, thanks to the 2.7K option. The light weight of this mini drone is an advantage. Because it weighs under 250 grams, you don’t need to get a pilot’s license. This compact mini drone is also perfect to take with you on a trip. The drone has a built-in GPS, so it knows whether it is a no-fly zone. If you want to fly in a no-fly zone, the drone will not work. Tip! We bought the drone with the extra fly more combo. You can fly for half an hour with one battery, so with two extra batteries, that’s perfectly fine.

You can use the drone with the DJI app to see where it is allowed to fly, what you film/photograph and you can easily find and share the photos and videos you have taken. If you’ve lost the drone out of sight, you can always use the home button so that it returns to the spot you took off.

Memory card

We generally use the Sandisk Extreme 64GB memory card to save our photos and videos. We recommend you to buy two of them. This way you can quickly switch to the other card when you are traveling with a full card. Furthermore, if you ever lose one card, it would be terrible if all your content were gone immediately. So you can still divide your data over several cards. The “extreme” version is suitable for taking photos and recording 4K Ultra HD videos without stutter. It also processes the data nice and fast, so you can take many photos in a row.

External hard drive

It is useful to have an external hard drive with you to have all your content at one place. It is good to save your content in the cloud, but this often works a lot slower and with a hard drive you have an extra way to not lose your beautiful creations. We chose the Seagate because it is not too expensive and works well and quickly.
